Investor reports and materials
Investor Materials turns a data room into a channel for keeping investors informed and for producing investor-facing collateral — both generated from the deal's own documents. It is an optional add-on, enabled per data room; see Billing & Plans for how add-ons work.
This page covers two surfaces: Investor Reports (periodic updates published to investors) and investor collateral (pitch decks, business plans, and financial models).
Investor Reports
An Investor Report is a periodic update — a fund or portfolio update for a given period — composed inside the data room and published to the investors you choose. Reports live on the data room's Investor Reports surface, where the deal team drafts, reviews, approves, and publishes them.
How a report is produced
The deal team does not write a report from a blank page. An AI agent drafts the narrative from the data room's contents, with charts pulled from the portfolio data behind the deal. As with every agent on the platform, the output is a proposal the team reviews — the draft editor lets you edit the narrative inline and swap or reorder the embedded charts before regenerating or approving. The drafting agent is held to a structured output schema and will refuse to assert anything it cannot cite from the underlying material, rather than inventing figures.
The approval lifecycle
A report moves through an explicit approval state machine — draft, review, approval, and publication — rather than going live on a single click. Each generation run is recorded in an immutable audit log, with cost ceilings and timeouts, so there is always a record of what was generated, when, and who approved it.
Publishing
When a report is published:
- Its chart data is frozen and embedded as images, so the figures an investor sees are exactly the ones approved, even if the underlying portfolio data later changes.
- It renders to an org-branded HTML web view and a downloadable PDF, both carrying your branding.
- Publication is unique per
(portfolio, period)— re-publishing the same period follows an explicit republish path rather than silently overwriting.
Who sees a report
A per-investor can_view_updates permission controls which investors see
published reports. Published reports are also indexed into the AI assistant's
retrieval, so an investor you have granted access can ask the chatbot about a
report's contents alongside the rest of the data room.
Investor collateral: decks, plans, and models
The same add-on includes AI generation of investor-facing collateral from the data room's documents:
- Pitch decks — an agent assembles an investor-ready slide deck (
.pptx) from the room's documents and saves it back into the data room. - Business plans and financial models — generated from the same source material as structured, editable starting points.
Each is produced by an agent on Waafir's agent framework, so the same review and audit guarantees apply: the AI proposes, you decide, and every run is recorded.
What you need
- The Investor Materials add-on, enabled on the data room. Without it, the Investor Reports surface and the collateral generators appear as a locked upgrade prompt. See Billing & Plans.
- Documents in the data room for the agents to draw on, and — for reports with charts — portfolio data linked to the room (see Portfolio monitoring).
Transactions and deal workflows
Waafir's deal-lifecycle engine — track a transaction from draft through execution, manage participants and workflow steps, attach diligence files, and watch the readiness score climb as the deal closes.
Portfolio monitoring
Turn a deal's underlying loan tape into pricing, risk, concentration, impact, and portfolio analytics — dozens of curated chart packs, a metric glossary, natural-language custom charts, and exportable loan tapes. Part of the Monitoring add-on.
